Shift Processing / End of Day

Q1: I forgot to do an X-Report before I did the blind close. Now, I don’t know what my credit card transaction total is. How do I run an X-Report on an old batch?

You can do this in RMH Store Manager. Simply select the batch you want to run the X-Report for, then click the button named X (it’s next to the Z button). Click Yes when it asks for confirmation. Click Yes when it asks if you want to print the report. Select the Windows printer. A Windows printer dialog will appear. Chose the proper printer and click OK.

Q2: After counting the cash drawer, there is less than $100 for tomorrow’s opening amount. What should I do?

If the cash drawer is in balance (i.e. over/short = $0.00), there is absolutely nothing wrong with having less than $100 in the cash drawer at the end of a shift. Simply acquire the necessary money from the safe to make tomorrow’s drawer have $100. This will not affect the EOD report whatsoever.

Q3: After entering closing amounts, the over/short value is $200 over. Looking at the X-Report, I found an extra cash drop. How do I remove an extra cash drop?

The short answer is: you cannot remove it. Once a blind close is performed, all operations after the blind close apply to the new batch. Nothing can be added to the old batch (except for running reports).

If you have $200+ in the cash drawer, take out $200 from the drawer and put it into the cash drop envelope. Recount your cash and enter the new closing amount. Your over/short value should balance.

If you do not have $200 in the drawer. Simply enter what you counted and contact the IT help desk to run the Z-report for you. This will not affect the EOD report.

Q4: After entering closing amounts, the over/short value is $198 short. Looking at the X-Report, I found a cash drop was recorded for $2.00 instead of $200.00 in RMH POS. How can I fix the bad drop?

The short answer is: you cannot fix it. Once a blind close is performed, all operations after the blind close apply to the new batch. Nothing can be added to the old batch (except for running reports).

What you can do is take out $198 from the cash drop envelope and add it to the cash drawer. Recount your cash and enter that closing amount. Your over/short value should balance.

Q5: After entering closing amounts, the over/short value is $100 over. Looking at the X-Report, I found that the opening cash amount was never entered. Can I enter an opening cash amount using RMH Store Manager?

Yes. Select the batch that you want to enter an opening cash amount for. Then click the button named Opening (it’s next to the Closing button). Enter $100.00 into the cash tender type. Click OK. Your over/short amount should balance.

If the opening amount was entered incorrectly (e.g. put into credit card instead of cash), you can correct it using Store Manager.

For future reference, you can also correct it at the cash register until the blind close. If you’ve already entered the opening amount before, it will provide a warning saying “Opening amounts have already been entered, would you like to overwrite?”. Just click Yes.

Q6: After entering the closing amounts, my over/short value exceeds $50. Now, it won’t let me run the Z-Report to close out the batch. What should I do?

You should use the journal viewer to review each transaction to find out the discrepancy. However, you must contact the IT help desk to run the Z-Report for you.

Over/short values in the Z-Report may affect the EOD report. You should make a note of the batch number and the over/short amount. If you found the discrepancy, enter it in the notes section of the EOD report.
